M- No problem. I appreciate the recommend. I’m really enjoying the way this man hammers on a piano. I’ll have to remember to rent, “Straight, no chaser”. Have a good weekend.
Spaz-I think you and I would probably be friends who had tea if we lived near one another. And shortbread with a lemon curd, or some sort of baked good… now I’m humming… kim
“Straight, No Chaser” is fantastic!! But, be warned: Monk mumbles. And by “mumbles”, I mean that he speaks his own language, which is a version of english, but wow…. thank goodness for subtitles (especially when he cusses out bandmembers).
Stan Getz made some beautiful music. Just… beautiful.
All I can say about Sun Ra is “Rocket numbah nine took off to the planet VENUS!… VENUS!” It takes an open mind to wrap oneself around his work. Interestingly, the guy who wrote the quintessential book about Sun Ra is a psychologist who teaches (or taught at one time, he may have moved on) at Clemson University, Dr. Campbell.
Well, I guess I know what’s going to be floating through my head for the rest of the day…I’m actually downloading music now…maybe not that song… I’m kidding. Maybe.
[...] Wooten Nothing like starting the week off with a little bit of Victor Wooten. You’ve never heard Norwegian Wood played like this. And if you have, let me know what planet you were on . . . Enjoy. w00t! [...]

Cool, cool and supercool.
And good names on your ‘next’ list. I actually saw Brubeck live in concert about 10 years ago. Love it, love it, love it.
I’m going home humming……
