In the last week or so, I’ve received three emails
asking why I’m not posting on GAGB.
So here it is, the reason…
Truth is, I haven’t been posting because…
I’ve been thinking of deleting the blog.

WHAT?!!!

I’m afraid it’s true. Sometimes I feel I’m done with blogging.
Yet, every time I go to delete it, I can’t seem to bring myself to do it.

Why would you delete your blog? you ask.

Well, there are several reasons but the most pressing is that
things are all over the place in my life these days.

I’m definitely moving again. In a month.
And I’m still not exactly sure where, but it’s between two places.
And well, this will be the sixteenth time I’ve moved in 14 years.

I’ll be honest with you. I’ve been running my whole life.
And well, I’m pretty tired.

I’m anticipating that until it all settles down, I
won’t have much time for GAGB or for writing.
So for those of you who visit here regularly, I apologize.

I will try to post some between now and then.
You guys have been great though.
Thanks for the encouraging emails and for caring.

I found this video on youtube. It’s an animation of one of Bukowski’s poems, “The Aliens”.
It’s missing a line but overall I thought it was pretty good. A neat way to view poetry, especially this particular poem (one of my favorites). I love the representation of people with letters.

I awoke with these lyrics floating around in my mind.
But when they escaped my lips,
I imagined my heart a rock
and someone attempting to squeeze tiny drops of water from it.

It may be one of those days for me.
But I’m used to them.
Besides I’ve got painting to do and people coming over to help.
This woman has the voice of an angel…I never tire of it.

It’s so funny sometimes how life will throw you a bone.
Something, that as a writer, you can really sink your teeth
into-you know, a good piece of meat, like a filet
(perhaps a really big carrot for you veggies).

I was reading Giovanni the other day and I stumbled upon this piece.
Immediately I thought, yep, that’s it.
She’d managed to perfectly organize the ideas floating around in my head.

And I don’t know, it was just nice.
One of those moments where it’s nice to know someone
out there, sometimes thinks and feels the same way you do at
some point in their life. And that there’s this type of interconnectivity between us all.
I decided to post it, because well, I don’t want to forget that I love this poem.
Here it is:

Choices

if i can’t do
what i want to do
then my job is to not
do what i don’t want
to do

it’s not the same thing
but it’s the best i can
do

if i can’t have
what i want then
my job is to want
what i’ve got
and be satisfied
that at least there
is something more
to want

since i can’t go
where i need
to go then I must go
where the signs point
though always understanding
parallel movement
isn’t lateral

when i can’t express
what i really feel
i practice feeling
what i can express
and none of it is equal

I love the part where she writes, “always understanding
parallel movement
isn’t lateral”.

That’s the stuff poet’s dreams are made of my friends.

I’ve decided to apply for a publisher position with a
local newspaper in another city.
Do any of you have experience in that line of work?
I’ve spent the last two days working on the cover letter,
resume, and references. The only real prerequisite is
a college degree, and well, I have one of those. So…we’ll see.
I’m going to try and send it off today.
I’ll let you know if I get the interview.

Anyway, the song for Wednesday…”Back on the Chain Gang”, The Pretenders.

and the lyrics are OOTW-that’s out of this world for all
the non-alien life forms )

It’s Monday.
The day that starts the week where I prepare to move.
I don’t know for sure where I’m going or what I’m going to do.
I’m not even sure what I want to do.
Which, to say the least, makes for an interesting life these days.

I guess you could say I can’t really ‘find my way home’.

(I’ve got plenty of those btw)

I just wanted to give a big THANKS to all of you who read
“Pedestal” (removed for submission) and commented.
You’re all amazing!
Your encouragement and support mean the world to me.

It’s always nice when others enjoy your work, especially when poems
do not come as easily to me as they did in the beginning.
Nowadays I seem to experience a period of emotional foreplay
before the words reveal their best form of expression, which as
you can guess, often requires a bit more of my time and effort than I’d like.

Anyway, it seems WordPress took away my ability to apply
to each of you separately. That’s why I wanted to post this.
You were all so very ‘kind and generous’ with your words.

It’s baaaacckk!!!
That’s right, after months of waiting to see what will transpire on one of TV’s hottest medical dramas, Grey’s Anatomy returns to ABC tonight. And it’s new.
And yes, I’m wanting to know. Is it Rose or will it always be…Meredith? Sue me, I’m a romantic. But don’t tell anyone that ……

Whew!! I was wondering when someone would post some Richard. Perfect for my Tuesday. I’ll be visiting later.
